Close proximity to other coastal towns, Split is the perfect home base for day trips around Croatia. Vis, Brač and Hvar are all great islands. You can day trip to Dubrovnik which is 3 hours away. Another must-visit is Krka National Park (without a doubt, the top attraction here is its waterfalls). If have don’t have too much time there is also small charming town – Trogir, just 30 minutes away.

You can start with Split`s old town, the famous Diocletians palace, climb the bell tower of St. Domnius Cathedral, take a walk on Riva promenade, explore beautiful Marjan Peninsula, and visit Green market & Fish market. Once you are done with Split, just 5 km outside of Split you can find charming little town Solin & the largest arheological park in Croatia – the famous Salona ruins. Klis fortress or better known as city of Meereen from the Games of Thrones is also just above Solin... The options are countless!
Among famous Bačvice beach, Zvončac, Žnjan, Ovčice, Trtenik, Obojena, etc, there are a lot of other spots to place your towel and just jump into the clear Adriatic sea. This might be the best reason to visit Split if you are on budget or looking to save a few pennies.
