Located reservoir lake on the river Cetina, covers 29 km2 - 20 km long and 64 m deep. The Peruča lake was created by the construction of a 56 m high dam near the village of Donji Bitelić, for the needs of Hydro power plant Peruča. On that occasion, some settlements were flooded, together with the Dragović monastery built in 1395 during the reign of Bosnian-Croatian King Tvrtko. In the summer months when the water level goes down due to lack of rain, Dragović Monastery floats to the surface, so those who catch a glimpse of the monastery can really be considered lucky, and for the adventurers who want such a view, diving is always an option.
The Peruča Lake is home to many plants and animals, mostly various kinds of fish such as trout, maple, carp, pike and so on..., So it is not surprising that the local fishermen know the lake as well as their own palm. Although it might not seem at first glance, Peruča Lake is full of hidden coves and large beaches. The largest beach can be reached if you follow the main road to the village of Vrlika and is easily reached by following the marked path.
Other than its beauty, great stories and legends this lake offers a warm welcome to its visitors. Including the pleasure of swimming, boating, fishing, it is also a paradise for water sports, camping and barbecues. The village Vrlika is only 5m away from the main beach what makes it far enough for a peace of mind, but still close enough to get all the stuff you might need. The whole area is very quiet and the worst thing that can happen to you here is to step on an animal feces.
This treasure chest has a lot to offer - Cetina Spring, Stone bridge from Stećak tombstones, a Church of st. Rescue, views from Prozor fortress, screaming fountains, goats and sheep on local roads, elder people chasing cows, chickens on the way to the beach, and all those things you can’t see in every day life will be the memorie You surely won’t forget.
