Kozjak is a mountain with two different faces. On the coastal side, it leaves the impression of a powerful impassable rocky barrier that towers over the narrow belt of Kaštelansko polje. On the northern side there is a plateau with a rare macchia. Kozjak stretches for 16 km from Klis on the east to the Malačka pass on the west.
The starting point of the climb is in Ninčevići in Petra Kružića Street. Your car can be parked there. From the last house in this street, take the fire road and then turn right uphill through the remains of a burnt pine forest, you will notice that the marking has also been partially burned.
After exiting the remnants of the pine forest, continue east along another fire route to a left turn towards the top. On a larger stone block, on the left side of the road, You will see an arrow pointing towards St. Juraj (George). From this point, sharply uphill, you'll reach small steps, a very roughly carved sidewalk, on which we help ourselves with wedges when ascending.
Exit on the ridge, left, along the rock to the top. The summit of St. George is overfilled with various antenna systems, which significantly impair its appearance, and the summit point itself is represented by a smaller rock with the inscription of the peak.
Thirty meters before the top there is a stone church of St. Jure that is built on the ramparts of a prehistoric hillfort. There is also a metal crucifix and another wooden cross near the chapel.
The top is still marked with an inscription on a stone that is barely legible. But the stamp is located on the opposite way of the chapel. From the top of the Kozjak mountain there is a magical view of the peaks of Mosor, the city of Split and the entire Kastela Bay.
