As a standalone dish, or an addition to fish or meat, blitva is an ideal, light and very healthy delicacy. You either love it or you don’t. Due to its mild taste, blitva goes well with many dishes. But it is also true that it often bypasses our plates. Blitva is easy to prepare, cooks briefly and is extremely nutritious. In addition to cooked, you can eat blitva raw, for example, mix (instead of spinach) with fruits and vegetables in a healthy smoothie. Today we are going to give you the recipe of „traditional Friday lunch“ Blitva with fried fish.
2 cloves of garlic
3 choped potatos
1 kg of fish
25 dag all purpouse flour
water
Olive oil
Salt
Peper
Wash the blitva and separate the leaves from the stems and roots. Finely chop the garlic and the blitva leaves. (not necessary but it will be easier to cook it) Add some olive oil, and chopped garlic into the pan, and then add half liter of water to it. Put potato cubes into a boiling water and cook for about 10 minutes. After 10 minutes add blitva, don’t mix but gently push it to fit the pan, cover it with the lid and leave it to cook on low heat for 10 – 15 minutes. (less if you have young leaves)
In the meantime, clean the fish and place it on the clean dry towel. After that roll the fish into the flour and fry it in the hot oil. Fry the fish for about 45 sec to 1 minute on each side. When your fish is done place it on a paper towel to soak up all the oil.
That’s all! Your lunch is ready. You can sprinkle it with some parsley, garlic, olive oil, lemon juice, but the best ingredient you can add is a glass of a quality red wine!
